Like many boat owners, we tried everything to keep seagulls off our boat — bird netting, plastic owls, flags, humming tape — you name it, we tried it.

Then, one day, we observed something interesting. Seagulls are territorial. Once a nesting pair claims a boat, they defend it fiercely and keep other gulls away.

That got us thinking... What if we placed a fake nest on board?
